My name is MaKayla and I am the creator of Little River Soapery. I craft a diverse range of soaps, from luxurious skincare bars to effective dish soaps and concentrated foam soap tablets, all made with high-quality ingredients. My commitment to quality extends beyond ingredient selection to my small-batch production process. Handcrafted in limited quantities, each batch exhibits unique variations in color and scent, a testament to their artisanal nature. These subtle differences, arising from hand-mixing ingredients, natural colorant variations, and the unique curing process, add to the charm and individuality of every bar. My Story
In 2023, my sister, a real green thumb and lifelong enthusiast of all things handmade, introduced me to the world of soap making. I initially approached it with a healthy dose of skepticism, imagining it to be a messy and complicated endeavor. However, she patiently guided me through the basics, explaining the fascinating process of saponification and the endless possibilities for creativity.
As I began experimenting, something unexpected happened. The initial trepidation quickly melted away, replaced by a sense of wonder and excitement. I found myself captivated by the intricate dance of oils, fragrances, and colors. Each batch was a new adventure, a chance to explore different textures, experiment with botanicals, and discover unique scent combinations.
Before I knew it, hours would fly by as I immersed myself in this newfound passion. My kitchen counter became a makeshift laboratory, adorned with colorful oils, fragrant essential oils, and an array of molds. I devoured books and online resources, learning about the history of soapmaking, the properties of different oils, and the art of creating truly luxurious bars.
The journey wasn't without its challenges. There were certainly a few batches that didn't turn out quite as planned – some too soft, others too harsh. Some even took on unexpected, and frankly, rather unfortunate colors. And I can't forget the time a particularly enthusiastic batch decided to erupt like a miniature volcano across my kitchen counter! But with each experiment, I learned and grew, refining my techniques and honing my craft.

And so, here I am today, with my own small business soap shoppe nestled in the scenic countryside of Kenly, North Carolina. It's a testament to the power of curiosity and the joy of following one's passions. I'm incredibly grateful to my sister for introducing me to this wonderful world, and I'm excited to continue sharing the fruits of my labor with others.
